If you are planning a Midterm Break with all the Family this Halloween, we've put together a list of some of the family-friendly events taking place throughout Galway over the October Mid-term Break.  As proud sponsors of MACNAS -  YOUNG ENSEMBLE, the highlight for us has to be the annual Macnas Parade that takes to the streets on Sunday 27th October. Here's some of the highlights from previous years to give you a taste of what is to come. 

BRIGIT’S GARDEN STORYTELLING & BONFIRE NIGHT  - 27TH & 28TH OCTOBER

Hallowe’en is coming to Brigits Garden, and all the family are invited to dress in their scariest Hallowe’en outfit and join in an afternoon of Ghoulish Arts & Crafts, Spooky Storytelling, Hunting for The Púca, Witchery in the Roundhouse and the grand finale, everybody’s favourite - the Bonfire to celebrate Samhain.

Due to huge demand last year, there will be two dates, 27th and 28th October this year. The event runs from 3pm to 6pm. This family event is suitable for all ages.And booking in advance is advisable.

MACNAS HALLOWEEN PARADE – SUNDAY 27TH OCTOBER 

The Macnas Halloween Parade is a highlight of Ireland’s cultural calendar in October, and the Galway Parade is the largest free event in the West of Ireland. Over 40,000 people line the streets every year to be awed and amazed by this epic scale of storytelling, as the company unleashes creative chaos and invention.

The Macnas Parade will bring 'Magic and Mischief' to the streets of Galway on SUNDAY 27TH OCTOBER from approximately 5.30pm throughout the streets of Galway.  Macnas are master storytellers who inspire and engage audiences by creating big, bold, visual shows and performances through world-class theatrical spectacle. We're sure that this years parade will be yet again a spectacular showstopper to aww and inspire and capture the imagination of young and old with their usual energy and creative designs.

SPOOKY FEST AT LOUGHWELL FARM PARK , 26TH – 31ST OCTOBER

Spooky Fest at Loughwell Farm Park, Moycullen, Co. Galway is an incredibly fun spooky house experience for children. There will be a full Halloween Show with wonky witches, Winnie & Wanda, having a fun time looking for their broom stick in their very own huge spooky house. The children will get to follow the witches through the secret passageways in the spooky house to look for the ingredients of a magic potion with lots of fun and games along the way.

SPOOKY WOOKY AT BURREN NATURE SANTUARY ; 26TH-30TH OCTOBER 12-4PM

Enjoy getting out and about this autumn at Burren Nature Sanctuary. Dare to brave the haunted barn with a scary mix of spooky characters and ghost story-telling. Let the kids be transformed into their favourite spooky characters by having their faces painted. Autumn is perfect for a stroll through this natural landscape of the Burren. Tickets to the Spooky Wooky also give you a day pass to the Sanctuary. 

Included in your admission ticket to Burren Nature Sanctuary includes; meet and feed the animals, walks through the fairy woodland, animal handling, fairy woodland walks and access to one of the best playgrounds in Galway.

TUROE PET FARM - HALLOWEEN TREAT - Sunday 27th, Monday 28th, Thursday 31st October 2019

Hallowe’en fun for kids begins at Turoe Pet Farm’s with their indoor soft play jungles, all decorated and ready for a spooky seasonal experience.. Children can take to the slides, ball pits and rope ladders of “Jungle City”, or leap and bounce on the massive “Inflatable City”. Face painting and balloon modelling along with a fancy dress parade at 4pm followed by Disco with DJ Corky and Special Mascots. An afternoon of great fun and entertainment is promised along with hot food and refreshments.

PICK YOUR OWN PUMPKIN - AT THE GALWAY PUMPKIN PATCH 

Galway Pumpkin Patch 2019 again takes place at the Whelan family farm in Ardrahan in South Galway ( Eircode:H91 V2P5).

Come along and enjoy much more than a Pumpkin Picking experience. There are Halloween themed displays, games for young and old, farm animals, and lots of new additions to the event this year!

The Pumpkin Patch will open on six dates: Friday October 18, Saturday October 19,and Sunday October 20, and on the Bank Holiday Saturday, Sunday, and Monday October 26, 27, and 28.

This is a ticket only event, and 2018 was a sell out, therefore please ensure you book well in advance. As mentioned above, tickets are now on sale at www.galwaypumpkinpatch.ie just click on and press buy tickets. They are sold in hourly slots (you can of course stay as long as you like!). Please ensure you book the correct date and time slot. Tickets are non refundable. There is free parking available on site.
