Visit Top Tourist Attractions for Free

Visit some of Irelands Top Touirst Attractions for FREE on National Tourism Day - 17th April 2020. 

Make sure to book your tickets in advance and include a trip to one of the following attractions while on a break in Galway; 

  • The Hall of the Red Earl. 
  • Dun Aonghas, Inish More
  • Dunguaire Castle, Kinvarra. 
  • Patrick Pearse's Cottage in Connemara 

Easter Stick Sunday: Family Forest Fun

On 5th April, from 11am in Brigits Garden, Roscahill - Gather together in the woodlands of Brigit's Garden to connect and create in the outdoors. Learn fire lighting skills, natural Easter crafts, games and stories all while spending time together with your family!

This event is rain or shine so it is important to dress for the weather! Prices:Ages 2+: €10 / Adults: €5 / Family of 4: €25

Gilgamesh by Macnas

Master storytellers Macnas will bring the epic of Gilgamesh to Galway across four seasons in 2020, starting with their first unveiling over the 10th - 12th April. 

The street parage will be on 21st June 2020. 

Jumplanes Galway

Based on the Monivea Road on the Mervue District of Galway City JumpLanes provides a range of fun and activity that all the family can enjoy. With a huge indoor trampoline area with dodgeballs and an all year round artificial ice skating rink its a recreation centre for all the family to enjoy.

Suitable for Over 5 Years Only, but on Saturday & Sunday monrings they have introduced a session for Under 5's, they will be very welcome in the toddlers session every Saturday & Sundaty from 10 - 11am

Virtual Reality Galway

Ireland’s largest Virtual Reality Entertainment Centre in Galway, offering unreal VR experiences for kids over 8 years.  Instead of standing still in one place and clicking a button to teleport in the virtual world, they provide a physically interactive environment that promotes healthy, active lifestyles.

Suitable for over 8 years. Children 13 and under require one adult (18 or older) to accompany them.

Indoor Go Karting

Located just a couple of minutes drive from the hotel, in Liosban Industrial Estate - it provides karting fun to everyone from aged 7 to 77!

Galway City Karting is open 7 days a week from 12 noon to 10pm daily. Karters from as young as 7 can join in the fun with 15 and 30 minute sessions on the track - an ideal activity for those rainy days in Galway. 

Easter Egg Hunt - Brigits Garden

Celebrate a fun-filled Easter at Brigit's Garden with the annual family Easter Egg Hunt. There are two hunts available: A Little-Bunny Hunt for the younger ones around the four Celtic Gardens and a Big-Bunny Hunt for the older children around the nature trail.

They are both treasure hunts - follow the Egg Clues around the Gardens and every child gets a prize of a chocolate nest filled with mini eggs! Activities start at 1pm until 4.30pm. Tickets must be booked in advance. 

Slieve Aughty - Spring Festival

Visit The Slieve Aughty Centre during the Easter holidays, 4th - 19th April 2020 and capture the joy of spring at the Spring Festival Galway!

Take a short walk to the Enchanted Forest and see if you can spot any fairy folk. The Easter bunny leaves his rabbit foot prints along the trail. Find out who else lives in the forest following the Who Am I? animal cards in the Enchanted Forest.  There are plenty of farm animals around to visit, or you can go for a ride on one of our friendly horses or ponies (from €10 for pony rides one way to the Enchanted Forest for children ages 4 and up!).Plus enjoy facepainting, dress-up and art and crafts.

Burren Nature Sanctuary

Discover The Burren Nature Sanctuary near Kinvara, Co.Galway. A hidden treasure for families, where you can follow the nature trail, find fairies and meet friendly farm animals. With a large playground for kids of all ages and a soft play indoor area with a cafe for mums and dads – this is a fantastic day out for all the family!

Open daily from April - September 

Take a Pig Walk

Walk an adorable pig called Emilia through the Faerie Woods at The Burren Nature Sanctuary. This is an experience, that can be booked here

Meet and feed the farm animals including Frisky the goat and her friends Hannah, Heidi and Milly, Jazz the alpaca, Frank the kissing Llama and Thumper the rabbit. Continue to Emilia's paddock and meet Emilia the Juliana pig who lives with Dyson the rescued not-so-micro pig!

Renville Park

Renville Park  - Renville park is a large public park located by the sea, just beyond Oranmore, about 10 minutes drive from the hotel. The facilities include a, playground, picnic and barbecue areas. The network of walks through the woodland and open farmland, along with the scenic view of Galway Bay make it a very popular walking and amenity area. Set in the grounds of an old stately house, many of the original structures are still in place.

Glengowla Mines

Glengowla Mines just outside Oughterard, offers a great family day out with a visit to the underground mine and the mining museum. But what the kids loved best was spending hours gold panning for real treasure!

Alliwee Caves

Visit the Alliwee Caves abd Birds of Prey centre. 

From the 4th - 19th of April (Easter Mid Term) Flying Dispalys are scheduled at 12noon / 2pm / 4pm

Galway City Museum

Galway City Museum – The current galleries include a Sea Science exhibition and interactive Medieval Maps of Galway. Make sure to check out their upcoming events calender, where they offer a number of free children’s events and workshops throughout the year. Bookings are advised as spaces are limited for events.
