Anyone else feeling a bit sad after the last three brilliant weeks of festivities in Galway, it almost feels like we are on the run in to the C word already. Fear not Galway is the county of festivals and there is no shortage of fantastic events on the horizon. From next Monday August 12th Galway Pride kicks off with a week long schedule of events. From panel discussions in Irish, Mental Health Events, Comedy Nights and of course the Pride Parade there’s something for everyone in this years Galway’s Community Pride Festival.

Streets of Galway 8km Run

This Saturday sees the 34th edition of the famous Streets of Galway 8km road race. Since its inception in 1986 the event has grown into one of the most prestigious road races in the country, yet remains true to its original motto of Sport for All, as many locals and visitors take on the event year in year out. The event will bring 3,500 participants onto the streets of our city and suburbs into what is a fantastic event and evening in the city. This event is the jewel in the crown of road races in the West and tours through the famous City of the Tribes. The race route starts at Fr Griffin Road in the city and takes in many of the sights of Galway city.

Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival

The last weekend of September, Galway City celebrates the Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival the world’s longest running Oyster Festival. Throughout the Irish food festival, there will be lots of tantalising events for all to enjoy; seafood trails, oyster opening (shucking) championships including the Oyster ‘Olympics’ or World Oyster Opening Championship, foodie talks & tasting events in some of Galway’s best  restaurants, The Festival Marquee, a Mardi Gras style Gala Event along with family activities, live music, cooking demonstrations and more.

Autumn Racing

The iconic Galway Races have two Autumn meets in 2019 with the first kicking off on September 16th a two day meet followed by the very popular October Festival from the 26th to 28th, featuring more top-class racing and a wonderful fundraiser in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness.

Baboró Children's Festival

Ireland’s premier international arts festival for children and families runs in Galway city and county in mid October, featuring Theatre, Dance, Literature, Music, Puppetry, Workshops and Visual Art for all ages. See the magic of well-known stories come to dazzling life on the stage. Special treats are also in store for everyone with beautiful exhibitions, readings and workshops. Come to Galway to experience this delightful Festival and explore this beautiful family-friendly city.
Now in it’s 23rd year, Baboró is Ireland’s flagship international arts festival devoted exclusively to children and families. This annual week-long festival of world-class creative arts features some of the best Irish and International artists and hosts creative engagement workshops for school children and families. The festival includes outreach programmes for children and families living in County Galway, Professional Development industry events.
