The world-famous Macnas Parade returns to the streets of Galway on Sunday, 29th of October 2017, as giants and otherworldly performers descend on the city for a night of mischief and mayhem. An estimated 40,000 people will take to the streets to enjoy this amazing, free event.

The 2017 parade concept and design, an imaginative celebration of life in the West of Ireland, is the brain-child of Parade Creative Director Orla Clogher. Three women lead the Macnas magic this year with the voice of Musical Director Orlagh deBhaldraithe and the inventions of Costume Designer Cherie White. The Macnas parade includes the work of the Macnas creative ensemble, comprised of 45 professional artists and 300 volunteers supported by CEO/Artistic Director Noeline Kavanagh.

Connacht Rugby vs. Munster
Galway Women's Football Club

This Friday night is one of the biggest nights of sport that Galway has ever seen. Connacht Rugby take on fierce rivals Munster under the lights in the Sportsground. Kieran Keane has named a very strong team with captain John Muldoon returning to lead the side. The home team will be hoping to build on recent success in Europe.

Across the city in Eamonn Deacy Park, Galway United fans will be praying for a miracle. Galway Utd need a win against Dundalk and hope that relegation rivals Sligo Rovers and St Pats drop points in their fixtures. Its going to be a tense game evening regardless.

Both games are live on tv with the soccer on RTE2 and rugby on TG4.
