Another month brings another list of fun, engaging, and memorable events taking place across Galway. October means we are well and truly into Autumn, but it also means lots more amazing get-togethers, concerts, and interesting family-friendly happenings. So, join us as we run through the latest edition of ‘What’s on in Galway’!

ARCHITECTURE AT THE EDGE 2023

September 29 -  October 8

Taking place over 10 days, the Architecture at the Edge festival promises a fascinating look at place, identity, and our meaning in relation to these facets. With so many galleries, exhibitions, and presentations to engage with, you’re promised an enthralling and thought-provoking time at any of the events you attend.

ILLUSTRATED TALK: THE CLADDAGH

If you’re interested in finding out more about one of Galway’s most treasured locations, The Claddagh, then this event is definitely for you. Happening in Galway’s Westside Resource Centre, it offers an insight into this enchanting place where Gailgeoir fishermen held incredible traditions together for centuries. 

LISA O' NEILL AT TOWN HALL THEATRE

October 5

Treat yourself to an evening of enchanting music and grab tickets to experience Lisa O’ Neill live at the Town Hall Theatre. Lisa has garnered a reputation as one of the most fantastic singers in the country, and this concert promises a beautiful way to enjoy her songs. Her latest album, All of This Is Chance, offers a magical inspection of so much all at once, and it promises to be a wonderful journey into the ether for everyone who attends. 

GALWAY UNITED VS. BOHEMIANS

October 7

Fresh from their First Divion heroics in September, champions Galway United welcome Premier Division outfit Bohemians to Eamonn Deacy Park on October 7. This FAI Cup semi-final clash promises to be an exciting contest between two great sides. Will the Tribesmen carry their momentum into this important match? Or will the 11-time League of Ireland winners upset the home supporters?

WINE & DINE AT GALWAY BAY GOLF RESORT

October 12

Enjoy the unique surroundings of Galway Bay Golf Resort at their upcoming ‘Wine and Dine’ evening on October 12. Tickets for this event can be purchased through Eventbrite and you’re sure to enjoy a fabulous occasion as you savour an arrival drinks reception, with wines provided by Findlater. Plus, you’ll also be treated to a delectable three-course meal made with passion by seasoned culinary pros. 

BABORÓ 2023

October 13-22

Taking place from October 13 to 22, the Baboró International Arts Festival for Children will be 10 days of entertainment, colour, fun, and wonderment. Dozens of performances, immersive installations, storytelling sessions, and more will breathe life into amazing narratives, made especially for children of various ages. As always, Baboró is going to be great – so bring your little ones along and enjoy the shows!

GALWAY INDOOR MARKET

October 21

Make the most of the Galway indoor Market on October 21 – and enjoy a day out that’s not at all weather-dependent. It’s all happening between 11 am and 4 pm with as many as 20 stalls offering a whole host of varied items, from artist-crafted paintings to handmade jewelry, and more. Plus, there will even be a DJ spinning tracks to create a fun atmosphere.

CONNACHT VS. OSPREYS

October 21

Connacht Rugby play host to Ospreys at The Sportsground in the United Rugby Championship. Located a short distance from the Connacht Rugby Sportsground, we are the ideal location to stay or dine if you are planning to go to this United Rugby Championship game. This is a great place to stay in Galway for these events and while there is plenty of Galway accommodation to choose from, we are only a short walk to The Sportsground.

GALWAY COMEDY FESTIVAL 23

October 24-30

The Galway Comedy Festival is back for another edition, and it’s sure to be packed with laughs once. Lots of big names are on the billing this year with the likes of Reginald D. Hunter, Jim Jefferies, Ardal O’ Hanlon, Ellen O’ Reilly, and many more. 

RACE IN PINK FUNDRAISER

October 29

The Galway Races are once again raising funds for the fantastic National Breast Cancer Research Institute on October 29 with the Race in Pink day. The Ballybrit Racecourse will come come alive with the excitement and thrill of another race day as everyone comes together to help raise vital finance for such an incredible charity. Plus, you’ll enjoy a drinks reception, a four-course meal, live entertainment, and lots more.
