NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE

The GAA season kicks off in earnest this weekend as Galway footballers host Cavan in Pearse Stadium on Sunday at 2:30pm.

Kevin Walsh’s side will be hoping for a good start as last year’s march to the final was instrumental in helping the team grow and ultimately reach the All Ireland semi-final. Galway were defeated by Roscommon in last weeks FBD league final and will have to improve on the 1-5 scored that day if they have any chance of collecting two points against Breffni men. Galway will be without the Corofin contingent while new Cavan manager Michael Graham is still involved with heroic club side Mullinalaghta who play Dr. Crokes on Ferb 16th. With Galway having to travel to Dublin, Monaghan, Mayo and Tyrone this year it will be essential to pick up as many points at home as possible.
