Our History
Established in 1969 as The Galway Ryan Hotel, The Connacht Hotel began with 96 rooms, a restaurant, and a bar, quickly becoming a cornerstone in Galway's tourism industry. In 1984, we introduced the Friendly Fellows Kids Club, Ireland's longest-running hotel children's program, underscoring our commitment to family-friendly hospitality. Over the years, we've expanded our facilities to include a leisure center with an indoor pool and gym in 1995, and further accommodations in 2004. After rebranding as The Connacht Hotel in 2013, we continue to blend tradition with modernity, offering warm hospitality and exceptional service to all our guests.
The Connacht Hotel is now part of the Connacht Hospitality Group, a growing family business based in Galway City which comprises of three hotels - The Connacht Hotel, HYDE Hotel and The Residence Hotel. The group also includes, three licenced premises; An Púcán, M.Fitzgerald's Bar and HYDE Bar all located in Galway City Centre.
