Galway City on the West coast of Ireland, is The European Capital of Culture for the year 2020.
In 2020, Galway City and County will host hundreds of events throughout the year, with the aim of empowering communities to unite through culture, to create something amazing.
Galway 2020 will follow the Celtic Calendar to bring a distinctly Irish feel to this very European festival.
Anything that feeds the soul is culture. Culture is art, music, dance, its food , sea, landscape, its the people, Its fun! Since the announcement in 2015 of Galway winning the European Capital of Culture 2020, the anticipation has been building with the excitement of the unknown.
The year will see an extraordinary showcase of events highlighting the richness and diversity of Galway’s culture and its people.
A large opening ceremony is due to take place from 01 - 08 February 2020, to launch the year long of activities with a programme of over 1200 events throughout the city and county.
