With the summer well and truly upon us, it’s time to take a look at some of the events taking place in Galway throughout June. As usual, there will be so much to enjoy and engage in, whether it’s live sport, culture, or outdoor activities you’re looking for. So, join us as we bring you some of the highlights for June!

TRAD ON THE PROM

Mid May - September

Taking place over the course of several months, this wow-inducing, show-stopping display of Irish dancing, trad music, and more is sure to blow you away. Featuring some of the finest performers from across the island of Ireland, Trad on the Prom is a fantastic way to spend two hours. Celebrating Ireland’s past in modern and eye-catching ways, it is a heart-pounding, energy-fizzing show that takes place in Leisureland Theatre, Salthill.

SALTHILL FIVES SOCCER TOURNAMENT

June 3-4

The Salthill Fives Soccer Tournament, run by Salthill Devon FC, returns this year for a two-day festival of thrills, spills, and goals. Taking place in Salthill Park, this exciting tournament will once again be full of fantastic action, and a huge crowd is expected to descend on the venue for the various competitions happening.

The Met Opera Live: Die Zauberflöte

Take a trip to the Eye Cinema this month as Mozart’s epic work is brought to life in dramatic fashion. This popular opera is an engaging, intriguing, and classic work skilfully given a new lease of life under the stewardship of conductor Nathalie Stutzmann. You’re sure to be wowed by the age-old story, the slew of interesting characters, and of course the phenomenal vocals on displays.

Johnny Cash is a music icon who continues to carry so much appeal. Such is his lasting legacy that even years after his passing, he continues to be revered as one of the greatest showmen of all time. Cash Returns is the smash-hit show that sees JP Mac play the titular character, while Karen Martin plays the role of June Carter. An entertaining show that breathes new life into classic hits.

MÁIRTÍN O' CONNOR BAND LIVE IN GALWAY

On June 12th, Máirtín O’ Connor Band comes to the City of Tribes for a performance like no other. Máirtín, Cathal Hayden, and Seamie O’ Dowd have been performing together since 2001, and they have cultivated a tight musical performance that allows them to produce live brilliance time and again. If you love traditional music, this is a show not to be missed.

GALWAY UKULELE FESTIVAL

June 16-18


There’s guaranteed to be lots of excitement as the Galway Ukulele Festival takes centre stage from June 16th to 18th. With street performances, live concerts, workshops, and more all expected to happen, it promises to be a musical feast for the ears well worth indulging in. 

GALWAY UNITED VS. LONGFORD TOWN

JUNE 23


Galway United welcome Longford Town to Eamonn Deacy Park on June 23rd for what’s set to be a fantastic contest on the banks of the River Corrib. Both sides will be eager to pick up maximum points on the night, and a good crowd is expected as the Tribesmen continue their push for promotion. Will you be cheering them on alongside club mascot Terry the Tiger?

THE CORRANDULLA AGRICULTURAL SHOW

JUNE 25

Set amid 40 sprawling acres, the Corrandulla Agricultural Show offers a whole host of activities, attractions, and fun things to do for all the family. The Food Village, Country Market, Connemara Pony Show, and children’s entertainment are just some of the things to do on the day. Now in its 45th year, this event is expected to welcome some 10,000 visitors.
