CONNACHT RUGBY VS. MUNSTER

The Sportsground is the place to be on New Year’s Day as Connacht Rugby welcome provincial rivals Munster. This is sure to be a cracking contest between two fiercely competitive sides both looking to get a positive result. Brendan McGowan, Education Officer at Galway City Museum, will guide you through some incredible photos of Galway from the 19th and 20th centuries. You’ll glimpse into the past lives of those who lived in the City of Tribes many, many years ago, learning about how they lived and more. 

REELING IN THE SHOWBAND YEARS

January 17

Turn the dial back to one of the most memorable and unique eras of Irish music – the Showband era! This Town Hall Theatre show will spotlight some of the all-time greats, including Ronan Collins, Red Hurley, Gina from The Champions, and Keith and Lorraine McDonald. It promises to be a great night of fantastic performances and well-known hits, so get your tickets today. 

CINEMA BOOK CLUB: POOR THINGS AT PÁLÁS CINEMA

January 18

The latest edition of Cúirt Festival’s Cinema Book Club is…Poor Things. Join Pálás Cinema for a screening of this film based on the book by Alasdair Gray, and then join everyone afterwards to discuss how the two compared and contrasted. A great one for fiction lovers!

JASON BYRNE LIVE AT THE TOWN HALL THEATRE

January 20

Comedian Jason Byrne’s show ‘The Ironic Bionic Man’ is sure to have you in stitches (something Jason knows a thing or two about owing to his many medical mishaps). Jason is at the peak of his game right now, so you wouldn’t want to miss this chance to see him crack joke after joke in a wonderful venue. You know what to do! 

DAMIAN BROWNE: MAN VS. OCEAN AT THE BLACK BOX THEATRE

January 21

One of Ireland’s most daring explorers, Damian Browne, brings his unique and fantastic show ‘Man vs. Ocean’ to the Black Box Theatre. Damian is the only person in history to row 3,000 miles from Manhattan, New York City to Galway – a feat of endurance that is etched in history. Join Damian for a spoken-word performance on the night and hear how he overcame this gargantuan challenge.

JOIN AN IRISH LANGUAGE CLASS AT ÁRAS NA NGAEL

January 30-31
