Ten Outstanding Young Persons

The TOYP Awards take place on Wednesday 5th April at 7.30pm with our sponsors The Connacht Hotel and AIB where we will celebrate all of the nominees and announce the top Ten Outstanding Young Persons. The TOYP (Ten Outstanding Young Persons) Awards serves to formally recognise young people who excel in their chosen fields and exemplify the best attributes of our local young people. They can be nominated under 10 categories:

  • Business, economic, and/or entrepreneurial accomplishment
  • Political, legal, and/or governmental affairs
  • Academic leadership and/or accomplishment
  • Cultural achievement
  • Moral and/or environmental leadership
  • Contribution to children, world peace, and/or human rights
  • Humanitarian and/or voluntary leadership
  • Scientific and/or technological development
  • Personal improvement and/or accomplishment
  • Medical innovation

galway food festival

The 6th Galway Food Festival will take place from the 13-17 April during the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. The Festival theme of Food and the Community will feature a stimulating programme of over 100 food-based events celebrating the importance of sharing food together to promote a healthy community that starts in the home. Through an extensive programme of talks, workshops, tours and in-house events, the festival will encourage people to reconnect with where their food comes from, and learning more about what nature can provide for us. galway v kildare

Galway take on Kildare in Croke Park this weekend in the Division 2 League final. After an impressive league campaign Kevin Walsh’s men edged out the Lilywhites in Salthill by the slenderest of margins to book their place in the final at the expense of Meath. A win on Sunday will give Galway a great confidence boost heading into this summers championship. The game is live on TG4 www.tg4.ie
