Week 17 2018

Awards Season

IIt’s been another busy week here in The Connacht Hotel and in the Connacht Hospitality Group. This week we were named as finalists in the Network Galway Awards for Best Use of Digital Marketing. This follows on from our recent win at the Best of Galway Awards, winning the title of Best Hotel in Galway. Last week saw Galway’s newest bar open. Hyde Bar and Gin Parlour is now open in the Forster Court Hotel, Forster Street. With over 500 different gins and an amazing food menu it’s going to be very popular with gin drinkers and selfie fans given its beautiful décor. Make sure to check it out over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

Culture Vulture

If you have an evening to spare this week, we would highly recommend checking out the Galway Musical Society version of The Hired Man. The Black Box is hosting this beautiful and moving story until Sunday May 6th. We were amongst the lucky ones who got to enjoy opening night and it was a remarkable success. The set is superbly designed and the cast are just outstanding, you have to remind yourself that these are just amateur actors at times. It’s a poignant tale of family and hardships set in Cumbria beginning in 1898 and continuing through to the Great War. Massive congratulations to all involved and enjoy if you go to see it.

League of Ireland

Galway United travel to near neighbours this Friday night looking for all three points following a convincing win against Cobh Ramblers. Athlone Town who have been struggling this season could provide the ideal opponent as Galway United hope to push on with a number of winnable games on the schedule over the next few weeks.
Galway United Friends Co-Operative are running a supporters bus to the next league game against Athlone Town on Friday, May 4th, leaving from the Prospect Hill bus stop at 5.00pm. For more information click here
